I have a bonsai but i have no knowledge what are the recommended mixture / type of fertilizers to use and the recommended intervals of application.

Use a balanced feed (something with 3 equal numbers on the box such as 20-20-20 or 10-10-10) at half the reccomended strength once every 2 weeks. Don't feed a sick or dormant tree, and always water the tree before you fertilize.

I use a crushed flintstone vitamin in a gallon of h20...it seems to work for my trees and I use a slow releasing Osmocote ( the round pellets ) but I use half of what is recommended. I've burden trees before and it's disheartening to loose a tree. I've been told and I've read from books that it's better not to fertilize or fertilize weakly than to do as what is recommended...as I found out from loosing tree(s). If anyone has any suggestions for me to do something differently or maybe I might be doing something wrong I'm always open to learn more.
