I would like to take a 8 year old Jade plant I have and try to make a bonsai out of it. If I take cuttings from it and strip all the leaves off and transplant them will the leaves come in smaller? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Mike |

Here are 2 pictures of the plant in question. Was wondering if I could split the plant into 2 or if it would be better to leave it as is and remove leaves to make them smaller and trim it up a little.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Mike Last edited by roadking72 : 04-28-2010 at 07:26 PM. |

I think it may depend on how much you water it. I have a few Jades, with one being turned into a bonsai. I water the prebonsai Jade about once every few weeks, and the new leaves are about half to 3/4ths the size of the normal ones. However, since I was gone for a few weeks on vacation, the leaves were shriveling up so I watered it pretty well. To my surprise, even the smaller leaves on top (not quite shriveled up) grew to normal size.

just cut it back to a stump and start all over again. this plant will shoot new branches just rub off unwanted growth water it when you see the dirt getting a little dry .it will look decently very quick.
