Red face Beginner at Bonsai

Hi

I'm still pretty new to bonsai and tend to keep collecting baby trees that I can do something with - hopefully. At the moment, I have a Japanese Maple, Chinese Elm, two Morton Bay figs, a dwarf Pomegranite, and a cyprus. They are currently in the original pots and I have questions. lol.

I've been playing with bonsai, on and off, and on my travels for a few years, but this time I intend to keep hold of my trees - they are going wherever I go!

I'm in Sydney, Australia, soon to be heading down to the cooler regions of the Southern Highlands where the temperatures get pretty chilly in winter.

Looking forward to sharing information and knowledge on the forum.

Linda.

There really isnt a 'trick' to make leaves smaller, thats achieved by pruning and planting the tree in a small container. Some species can get leaves to reduce quite a bit more than others.

When I am somewhere permanent I will be able to give that a go. However, at the moment, I have been on the move for a few years, hence my baby bonsais' are still in pots.

try using my training pot method. BUS TUBS!!!! they are large in surface area and deep enough to plant. so basically you get a head start on root training yet the plant can grow like crazy!
